Zacchaeus Adangor, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, has taken a firm stance by rejecting his redeployment as Commissioner for Special Duties.
Additionally, he has tendered his resignation from the state executive council.
This decision comes after a series of events. Previously, on December 14, Zacchaeus resigned from his position as the Attorney-General of the state due to a face-off between Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Despite the political crisis, Zacchaeus and other commissioners who had resigned were later reconfirmed by the state House of Assembly and returned to the government.
However, Governor Fubara recently reshuffled his cabinet, redeploying Zacchaeus as the Commissioner for Special Duties (Governor’s Office).
In response, Zacchaeus rejected this new role.
Notably, Zacchaeus is a strong ally of Wike, and in his resignation letter, he accused Governor Fubara of interfering with the performance of his duties as the Attorney General of the state.
