The U.S. House of Representatives, in a significant move, approved a substantial aid package totaling $61 billion for Ukraine this Saturday.
In addition to the support for Ukraine, the House also sanctioned $26 billion in assistance for Israel and a further $8.12 billion earmarked for the Indo-Pacific region.
These bills, which garnered widespread bipartisan backing, are set to be sent to the Senate, where they will be considered alongside other key legislative items.
The vote for the Ukraine aid saw 101 Republicans and 210 Democrats in support, with one lawmaker voting present. However, there was opposition from 112 Republicans.
The aid bill for Israel was passed with a convincing majority of 366-58, with both parties showing strong support—193 Republicans and 173 Democrats voted in favor.
The Senate is expected to deliberate on these House-passed bills come Tuesday.
Mitch McConnell, the U.S. Senate Minority Leader, commended the House for its decisive action in passing these foreign aid bills.
