In a significant development, a coalition of support groups and members from the campaign organization of the late Dr. Paul Akintelure has officially joined forces with the campaign team of Chief Olusola Oke in preparation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary scheduled for Saturday.
Dr. Paul Akintelure, a prominent governorship aspirant within the APC, was widely expected to emerge as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Ondo state.
The joint statement, signed by the Director General/Coordinator and General Secretary of the campaign organization, Hon. (Dr.) Bello Adeluse Obe and Comrade (Mrs.) Usor Eteng, respectively, was made available to journalists in Akure. It unequivocally declares that members of Akintelure’s campaign will cast their votes in favor of Chief Oke during the upcoming governorship primaries.
The decision to support Chief Oke was reached unanimously by the campaign team. They view him as a leader with multi-dimensional capabilities, capable of positively transforming the fortunes of Ondo State.
According to the statement: “The campaign organisation of late Otunba (Dr) Paul Akintelure (DPA), has opted to support Chief Olusola Oke in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries coming up on Saturday 20th April 2024.
“This unanimous decision was made today, 17th April 2024 after a meeting of leaders and local government coordinators of the campaign organisation chaired by its Director General, Hon(Dr) Bello Adeluse Obe.
Speakers at the meeting highlighted Chief Olusola Oke’s political sagacity, intellectual capacity, and grassroots appeal.
They believe he can unify the people of Ondo State and elevate the state to modern standards. Chief Oke is a well-known figure in Ondo’s political landscape.
Notable attendees at the meeting included Chief Olu Ojo(former Chairman of APC in Akure South local government), Hon. Dele Fagoriola(former Executive Chairman of Akure North local government council), Hon. Charles Adeduro(Former Executive Chairman of Ondo East local government council), Hon. Biyi Ayannuola (former Executive Chairman of Idanre local government council), and Comrade Paul Ogbaji (PRO of the non-indigene support group, NISG), among others.
The late Dr. Akintelure passed away on March 26, 2024, after a brief illness at a Lagos hospital.
