The Lagos State Government is currently in talks with the Ogun State Government to further extend the Blue Line metro rail’s Phase 2, which is under construction from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, to reach Agbara in Ogun State.
Engr. Olasukanmi Okusaga, the Director of Rail Transport at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (LAMATA), made this known while overseeing the project’s progress, undertaken by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
The project, initiated in 2023, is on track to be completed within three years and will feature six new stations at Festac, Alakija, Trade Fair, Volkswagen, LASU, and Okokomaiko.
It also includes the construction of three bridges at Maza Maza, Satellite Town, and LASU, spanning a total of 14 kilometers.
Plans are also underway to build a dedicated depot at Okokomaiko to support the extended rail line.
