The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is scheduled to present charges against businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, on April 17, 2024.
The arraignment will take place at the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he faces allegations of Naira currency misuse.
Cubana Chief Priest is facing a three-count indictment for purportedly mishandling Naira notes during a public event, an act that contravenes the Central Bank Act of 2007.
The charges, filed on April 4 by the EFCC’s prosecuting team led by Rotimi Oyedepo, accuse Okechukwu of spraying N500 notes for an extended period during a social gathering at Eko Hotel, which is considered an offence under the Central Bank Act.
A second count, “that you, Okechukwu Pasca,l sometime in 2020, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”
