Nigerian music artist Augustine Obiabo Amedu, known in the industry as Blackface, has leveled allegations of song theft against fellow musician Shallipopi.
Blackface, a former member of the group Plantashun Boiz, asserts that Shallipopi unlawfully used parts of his track ‘Enemy Plan’ in Shallipopi’s newly launched album titled ‘Shakepopi’, all without obtaining Blackface’s consent.
In a video posted to his Instagram on Sunday, Blackface challenged the originality of Nigerian artists, questioning their reliance on his musical style and melodies for their own works.
Expressing his frustration in pidgin English, he stated, “Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project.”
As of now, Shallipopi has not responded to these accusations.
