Joshua Rogers, a reporter with Channels Television, has been safely released after his abduction in the Rumuosi area of Obio/Akpor, Rivers State.
Rogers was freed around 10 p.m. on Friday, reuniting with his family shortly after. The release occurred less than a day following his abduction on Thursday.
Charles Oporum, a fellow journalist, confirmed Rogers’ return late Friday evening. Yes, he has been released about an hour ago, and has reunited with his family,” stated Oporum.
Channels Television’s management also acknowledged Rogers’ release, expressing gratitude to viewers and concerned individuals. “Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been freed.
“We thank our viewers and all those who expressed concern over the unfortunate incident.”
A video has surfaced showing an elated Rogers celebrating his freedom with family members.
Details regarding the circumstances of his release—whether through a security operation or a ransom payment—remain undisclosed.
During Rogers’ abduction, both the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) were actively involved in rescue operations.
Rogers serves as the Government House Correspondent for Channels TV in Port Harcourt.
