In a move that aligns with the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-il-Fitr holidays, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda has announced an additional public holiday on Friday.
“Katsina State Government decision to declare Friday as work free day follow the good gesture of Federal Government for extending Ed-fitr public holidays to Thursday 11th of this month,” the statement partly read.
This decision, as stated by Dr Bala Salisu Zango, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, is to ensure that state employees can fully partake in the festivities with their loved ones.
The extension comes after the Federal Government prolonged the holiday to Thursday due to the moon not being sighted, marking a three-day celebration for the Eid period.
