In a devastating bandit attack that occurred approximately two weeks ago, the Madaka Communities within the Rafi local government area of Niger State have reported the tragic loss of 65 lives.
The community’s revelation coincided with the visit of the state’s deputy governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, who arrived amidst stringent security measures.
Community representatives have further disclosed that 55 individuals, predominantly women and children, are currently being held captive.
The region has been persistently targeted by bandits in the recent period.
Expressing his condolences, Deputy Governor Garba extended his deepest sympathies to those affected by the attacks, which have resulted in significant loss of life and the destruction of property valued at millions of Naira.
Earlier, Garba had engaged with internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Rafi local government secretariat in Kagara, reaffirming the government’s dedication to safeguarding both lives and property.
Additionally, he inspected the security establishments that are orchestrating the strategic response to combat the surge of banditry within the Rafi local government area.
