The coronation preparations for the incoming Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, have reached their final stages, as announced by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Lateef Adebimpe.
The announcement came after a visit by the Olubadan-In-Council to the Olubadan-designate’s residence at No 1, Cassia Street, Alalubosa Government Reserved Area, Ibadan South West Local Government Area, Oyo State.
Oba Olakulehin made his inaugural public appearance following the passing of the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, who passed away at 81 after a two-year reign.
The meeting also included notable figures such as Oba Eddy Oyewole, the Osi Olubadan; Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the Ashipa Olubadan; and Oba Kola Adegbola, the Asipa Balogun.
Oba Adebimpe confirmed Oba Olakulehin’s robust health and stated, “It is impossible for the Olubadan-In-Council to nominate Olakulehin as the Olubadan unless we are sure that he is in good condition.
“It has been some time since we have seen our Kabiyesi Olakulehin in our midst. Now, we have been making arrangements for Olakulehin’s coronation ceremony, who is our new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“We thank God that he is hale and hearty; and very soon, he will ascend the throne of his forefathers. And we will relate what we saw here to our colleagues.”
In anticipation of the upcoming coronation, the family of the soon-to-be paramount ruler has commenced the distribution of traditional attire, known as aso ebi, for the event.
