The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 19 political parties will participate in the November 16, 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.
The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, made this announcement during a meeting with representatives of political parties in Akure.
Babalola emphasized that these parties have expressed their interest in fielding candidates for the upcoming election. The participating political parties include:
- All Progressives Congress (APC)
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- Accord Party
- Action Alliance
- African Action Congress
- African Democratic Congress (ADC)
- African Democratic Party (ADP)**
- All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
- Allied Peoples Movement (APM)
- Action Peoples Party
- Boot Party
- Labour Party (LP)
- New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)
- National Rescue Movement
- Peoples Redemption Party (PRP)
- Social Democratic Party (SDP)
- Youth Party
- Young Progressives Party (YPP)
- Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)
The INEC REC urged all parties to strictly adhere to their constitutions’ guidelines, rules, and regulations during their primary elections next month.
She emphasized the importance of conducting peaceful, orderly, and transparent primaries to ensure the credibility of the electoral outcomes.
