In the early hours of Monday morning, Izuma David Odiereke, also known as Solition, a prominent cult leader in the Owube Kingdom of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State, met his demise in a police encounter within a forested area.
Addressing reporters at the Ahoada Police Division, where the body of Izuma David Odiereke, alias Solition, was brought, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed that Odiereke had been a fugitive since 2016, known for his extensive criminal record, which included acts of serial killing.
Despite previous unsuccessful attempts to apprehend him, law enforcement persisted in their pursuit, resulting in the fatal confrontation.
Disu further disclosed that Odiereke was responsible for the deaths of more than 10 individuals, including a local monarch, during his tenure as a cult leader.
The news of his demise prompted a sizable gathering of residents from both Ahoada East and West LGAs, who lauded the police commissioner for the successful operation.
Ben Eke, chairman of Ahoada East LGA, expressed optimism that Odiereke’s demise would contribute to a decline in criminal activities within the area.
