Kaduna State has welcomed the arrival of two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and a 200-strong Special Squad from the Nigerian Police Force, a move aimed at intensifying the region’s security operations.
The deployment, announced by Governor Uba Sani, is part of a concerted effort to combat the escalating threats of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
Sani said,
“Today, I received two Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and 200 highly trained members of the Special Squad of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) deployed to Kaduna State by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
”This is to strengthen the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
”This is a promise fulfilled. During his last visit to Kaduna State, the I-G promised to send equipment and personnel to strengthen the fighting capability and efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna state.
“We thank the I-G for his outstanding service and support to Kaduna state.
“We also appreciate Mr President for providing focused leadership at this trying time in Nigeria’s history and ensuring the safe return of the Kuriga school children.”
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, facilitated the deployment, fulfilling a commitment made during his previous visit to the state.
The additional resources are expected to significantly enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the police force within Kaduna.
Expressing gratitude, Governor Sani acknowledged the Inspector-General’s exceptional support and the President’s leadership during these challenging times, particularly in securing the release of the Kuriga school children.
Prior to the deployment, Governor Sani convened a confidential meeting with the Core Security Council and local leaders from Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area, underscoring the state’s proactive approach to addressing security concerns.
