“Former Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council Spokesperson Alleges Political Move by Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the defunct Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has raised allegations suggesting that Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, is strategizing to join forces with former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai within the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Bwala’s claims stem from the Nigerian Labour Congress’s decision to assert control over the LP, previously under Julius Abure’s leadership.
In a social media post on X, Bwala suggested that this coalition might not necessarily pose a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s aspirations for the 2027 presidential elections, despite the political dynamics at play.
He wrote: “BREAKING – Reports suggest Peter Obi @PeterObi is allegedly considering a collaboration with El-Rufai @elrufai within the Social Democratic Party, as the Nigerian Labour Congress prepares to reclaim ownership of their political entity, @NgLabour.
It’s noteworthy that a court ruling established the Nigeria Labour Congress’s ownership of the Labour Party, and NLC is now poised to assume control of the party.
“Expect twists and turns in the days ahead, but these developments may not unsettle @officialABAT, who himself possesses significant political leverage.
“These speculations arise following El-Rufai’s recent visit to the SDP headquarters in Abuja.
During his visit, El-Rufai engaged in consultations with SDP National Chairman Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who praised El-Rufai as a respected figure with a strong political background, emphasizing the need for transformative leadership in Nigeria.
El-Rufai’s interaction with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members underscores the evolving political landscape, as stakeholders navigate potential alliances and realignments.”
