Bright Osayi-Samuel, the defender for Fenerbahce, is at risk of a suspension that could extend up to 10 matches following his involvement in post-match hostilities after his team’s victory at Trabzonspor.
The incident, which saw Osayi-Samuel clashing with home supporters who made their way onto the field, has led to potential charges of violent conduct from the Turkish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee.
Reports from Turkey suggest that the Nigerian defender, aged 26, will assert self-defense in hopes of evading disciplinary action.
The hearing for this case is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2.
Currently, Osayi-Samuel is fulfilling his duties with the Nigerian national team. The Super Eagles are gearing up for encounters with Ghana’s Black Stars and Mali’s Eagles on March 22 and March 26, in that order.
