First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to consider growing their own food amidst the current nationwide food inflation and economic challenges.
Emphasizing the importance of agriculture, Mrs. Tinubu expressed her views during a meeting at the State House with Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In a statement released by her special assistant on media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady highlighted the initiatives of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), particularly in sectors like Agriculture, Empowerment, Education, Health, and Social Welfare. These efforts, she noted, are meant to complement the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Mrs. Tinubu praised the President’s decisions, emphasizing that they will contribute to building a more respected Nigeria. She called for greater accountability among Nigerians regarding the nation’s resources.
Addressing the youth, Mrs. Tinubu encouraged them to prioritize Nigeria over individual states or tribes. She also announced a competition for youth aged 15 to 25 to design fabric representing Nigeria, with a significant prize money.
During her visit, Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed highlighted the UN’s focus on youth, women, and girls, urging Nigeria to allocate more funds towards their empowerment, poverty alleviation, education, and other related initiatives.
