The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is undergoing an immediate reshuffling of directors across its Secretariat, Departments, and Agencies.
This initiative, effective immediately after the swearing-in of the pioneer Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries of the FCTA, Chairman, and members of the FCT Civil Service Commission, aims to enhance efficiency within the administration.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced this development during the swearing-in ceremony, advising the directors to accept their new assignments with positivity as there will be comprehensive reshuffling across all sectors of the FCTA.
“After this ceremony, the Head of Service will issue new postings to Directors. I have mandated a total reshuffling in all areas, and I will implement it today,” stated Minister Wike.
Furthermore, the minister cautioned the newly appointed permanent secretaries to perform optimally or face consequences. He emphasized that the administration would not tolerate laziness or bureaucratic delays that could hinder progress.
“If you fail to meet expectations, there will be no room for queries; we will simply replace you as a permanent secretary.
I don’t want to hear any excuses about file delays or other inefficiencies,” warned Minister Wike.
Addressing the newly appointed Coordinators, Minister Wike urged them to give their best efforts as President Tinubu’s administration is focused on developing satellite towns and enhancing infrastructure in the city center.
Speaking directly to the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Felix Amaechi Obuah, Minister Wike emphasized the importance of diligent work, especially given the president’s residence in the city.
“You will face significant challenges in your role, particularly as the president resides in the city. There should be no excuses for malfunctioning street lights, poor sanitation, or waste management,” stressed Minister Wike.
In conclusion, Minister Wike commended President Tinubu for ensuring the implementation of the FCT Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act, 2018. He urged all appointees to demonstrate commitment, loyalty, and dedication to making Abuja a functional and efficient capital city.
