One of the contenders for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Ondo State, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, has emphasized the necessity for the ruling party to hold an open primary for the upcoming Ondo State Governorship Election scheduled for November 16, 2024.
Speaking ahead of the APC primary, Senator Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed his readiness to face competition, including from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who recently declared his intention to run for governorship.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, when questioned about whether Aiyedatiwa should be given priority, Senator Ibrahim stressed the essence of democracy and competition.
He highlighted the importance of competency and strategy in the electoral process.
Addressing concerns about his apprehension towards the incumbent governor, Senator Ibrahim confidently asserted his preparedness, citing his expertise and experience, including his “Harvard strategy” and knowledge.
