Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has declared his administration’s support for Senator Abdul Ningi after the senator faced a three-month suspension from the Senate this past Tuesday.
Senator Ningi, who serves the Bauchi Central senatorial district, faced suspension due to his claims that a sum of N3.7 trillion in the 2024 budget was unaccounted for. Following his suspension, he stepped down from his role as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF).
Governor Mohammed, addressing the issue at the State Executive Council meeting in Bauchi, expressed his disappointment with the Senate’s decision. He affirmed the truth in Senator Ningi’s statements and commended the senator for his integrity.
“I was deeply saddened by the Senate’s decision to suspend one of Bauchi’s finest for merely speaking the truth and being a pillar of integrity,” said Mohammed, who also leads the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The governor indicated plans for private discussions to determine how best to support Senator Ningi, emphasizing his commitment to backing the senator’s actions, particularly in light of the veracity of his claims.
