The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) conducted a demolition exercise on Thursday at Plot 1765 in Games Village.
Following the exercise, Mr. Nasiru Isa, the Director of Finance and Account at AMMC, addressed journalists, explaining that the plot was initially designated for the Council’s Senior Staff Housing Estate.
Isa clarified that the demolition was conducted according to due process, highlighting that the plot was previously temporarily allocated to a company responsible for constructing Games Village.
He emphasized that AMMC had issued several notices to the management of Games Village prior to the demolition.
Isa pointed out that the plot, which currently houses a private school and mechanic workshop, was not intended for such purposes as it is a temporary site.
He further explained that the demolition process began approximately four months ago and was completed on Thursday.Isa emphasized that the issue surrounding the plot had been ongoing for three years.
