The Nigerian Army has announced the elimination of Maikusa, a notorious terrorist leader and second-in-command to the infamous Modi Modi, in Katsina state.
According to a statement from the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, troops successfully gunned down Maikusa and three other terrorists during a counter operation in Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas on Monday.
The operation also led to the clearance of terrorists’ hideouts in the mentioned areas, despite fierce resistance from the extremists.
Troops demonstrated bravery and superior firepower, neutralizing some terrorists while others fled.
Following the firefight, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, a locally fabricated gun, and camouflage uniforms.
Additionally, clearance operations destroyed terrorists’ camps in Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni, and Dogon Marke villages in Kurfi Local Government Area, as well as Ummadau and Zakka villages in Safana Local Government Area.
Troops continue to maintain an aggressive posture in the region to eradicate remnants of terrorist cells, ensuring safety and security in the area.
