The Federal Executive Council expressed deep sorrow on Thursday over the passing of Prof. Fabian Osuji, the former Minister of Education, who passed away at the age of 82.
Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, conveyed the council’s condolences.
In a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information in his office, Akume highlighted Osuji’s profound dedication to humanity and his significant contributions to the advancement of university education in Nigeria through policy formulation, research, and publications.
He acknowledged Osuji’s enduring impact on the education sector.
Akume extended heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of Imo State, as well as Osuji’s immediate family, and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
Osuji served as Minister of Education during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he played a pivotal role in initiating policies that positively influenced the education sector of the country.
