Gunmen Strike Again in Nasarawa: Two Police Officers, Village Head, and 11 Others Killed Unknown assailants have once again wreaked havoc in villages across Nasarawa State, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
Among the casualties are two police officers, the village head of Katakpa in Toto Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmadu, and 11 civilians.
This recent attack comes after a previous assault on January 1, where eight individuals were killed in Katakpa, and several houses, including the village head’s palace, were set ablaze.
In a tragic turn of events, three soldiers deployed to the area on January 8, along with two vigilantes, fell victim to an ambush following the initial attack.
According to Ibrahim Shuaibu, a resident of the area, the gunmen struck around 2 am on Monday, setting houses ablaze and indiscriminately firing at fleeing occupants. Prior to targeting civilians, the assailants also launched an assault on the local police outpost, resulting in the deaths of two officers.
Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Tashas, the Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, confirmed the attack and casualties but indicated that he was awaiting further details as he was currently engaged in official duties with the Deputy Governor.
As of now, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, has not issued an official statement or confirmation regarding the incident.
