IGP Directs Nationwide Deployment of Police Personnel to Safeguard Against Hijacking of Protests Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has issued directives to Commissioners of Police across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to ensure the deployment of police personnel nationwide.
The aim is to prevent any infiltration by disruptive elements during today’s protests.
Egbetokun emphasized the readiness of the police to swiftly and decisively respond to any unlawful activities or violence that could jeopardize public safety and security.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force has deployed personnel nationwide and placed them on high alert to monitor the planned protests.
The statement further outlined that all Commissioners of Police and their respective supervising officers have been briefed and tasked with coordinating the deployed officers to ensure the safety and security of all participants, should the protests proceed as planned.
The police force is fully prepared to respond promptly and firmly to any unlawful activities or violence that may threaten peace and public safety during the protests.
The statement emphasized the police’s commitment to upholding the rights and freedoms of protesters while maintaining law and order.
The Inspector-General of Police urged all participants to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly, adhering to non-violent principles and respecting the rights of others.
