The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has issued a stern warning to Lagosians ahead of a planned protest scheduled for Monday, February 26, 2024.
In a statement released on Sunday by Force PRO Benjamin Hundeyin, the commissioner emphasized that any disruption of law and order during the protest would not be tolerated.
Fayoade stressed the potential impact of the protest on economic activities in the state and assured the public that the police force is fully prepared to uphold safety, protect property, and maintain peace.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the police to safeguard the fundamental rights of all citizens.
The statement emphasized, “The Command will live up to its mandate of ensuring that no person or group of persons is allowed to infringe on the fundamental human rights of others, especially the rights to freedom of movement and right to dignity of human persons.”
The commissioner warned potential protesters that any attempt to violate the rights of fellow Nigerians would be met with legal consequences.
He urged peace-loving Lagosians to carry out their lawful activities without fear, assuring them of adequate security measures in place for their protection.
Fayoade concluded by urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and reiterated the commitment of the police to maintain a peaceful environment in Lagos State.
