Bandits Execute Abuja Resident Despite Unmet Ransom Demand
Tragedy struck as bandits carried out their threat, ending the life of Olayinka Ogunyemi, a civil engineer abducted alongside others on December 28, 2023.
Despite efforts by the families to secure their release, the bandits executed Ogunyemi after the ransom demand of N290 million went unmet.
According to a community source, the bandits communicated the grim news on Friday, escalating the urgency to gather the remaining ransom of N230 million.
Among those still held captive are a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, two siblings, a pregnant woman, and two men.
Despite partial payments totaling N23 million and provisions of food and other requested items, the captives remain in peril.
Urgent appeals have been made to government authorities, including the federal government, police, and military, to intensify rescue efforts.
The abductors have vowed further retaliation, citing perceived grievances against Nigeria.
In response to inquiries, FCT Police Command spokesperson, Adeh Josephine, stated, “I am not aware of the incident.”
