Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation activist, came back to a warm reception by his supporters in Igboho, Oyo State yesterday, three years after he fled from a fatal attack on his Ibadan home by security agents.
Igboho is said to have returned home for his mother’s funeral. He was said to have come from Germany where he had stayed after a Benin court released him on bail last year.
His Soka, Ibadan home was raided by Department of State Security (DSS) agents on July 1, 2021 in a bid to capture him. Two of his associates were killed during the raid; while 12 others were detained and taken to Abuja for trial.
Adeyemo told reporters yesterday: “It is true that I am back in the country. I came back on Wednesday purposely for the burial of my mother.
“I have to return home to bury my mother. She died last year and today (Thursday) is her wake. Tomorrow we are holding a burial in Igboho before we move to Ibadan for the entertainment of our guests on Saturday.
“I can tell you that arrangements have been perfected to give my mother a befitting burial. Eminent Nigerians and dignitaries from all walks of life are billed to attend the burial. I am very grateful to everyone for your support and solidarity during my travails in Nigeria and Republic of Benin.”
