The Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has refuted rumors suggesting his departure from the party.
In a statement issued by the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi distanced himself from reports circulating on various online platforms (excluding DAILY POST), labeling them as the handiwork of mischievous individuals.
According to Michael Jude Nwolisa, Obi’s Media Aide, the POMR vehemently denies the trending fake news stories insinuating Obi’s exit from the Labour Party.
Nwolisa emphasized that these rumors are unfounded and malicious, originating from mischief makers aiming to sow discord within the party.
The statement further elucidated that such acts of misconduct are not new within the party, as there have been ongoing attempts to disrupt and dismantle the party’s unity in an effort to undermine Obi’s leadership and the collective mission of rescuing Nigeria.
Presently, Obi’s focus is on national development rather than partisan politics, with the Supreme Court’s final decision on the general elections marking the end of the electoral cycle on October 26, 2023.
