To curb criminal activities on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the police commands of Lagos and Ogun states have started a joint patrol on the road.
This was revealed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post on X via @BenHundeyin on Thursday.
Gunmen had kidnapped the Lagos State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Philip Aivoji, and some other party leaders at the Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in January. Some people lost their lives during the incident, but the captives were later freed.
Hundeyin said the joint patrols would span from Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.
“As part of efforts to enhance security on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Police Command in Lagos State and its Ogun State counterpart have commenced joint patrols of Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.
“The patrol teams from the Lagos command will comprise mainly the Rapid Response Squad.
“Motorists are, therefore, enjoined not to panic at the sight of increased police patrols, particularly the RRS. This is a proactive measure to prevent crime and criminality on this stretch of the road, ” he said.
