The Zamfara State Government has issued a clarification, stating that it has not imposed a ban on bread production within the state.
Governor Dauda Lawal emphasized that the government’s directive specifically targets disrupting the supply chain to bandits operating across the state.
This clarification comes in response to the recent decision by the Bakers’ Association in Zamfara State to suspend bread production following the government’s restriction on motorcycles delivering bread.
In a statement released by the spokesperson of the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, in Gusau on Wednesday, it was explained that the restriction on bread and fuel supply to volatile areas was implemented as part of efforts to counter the activities of bandits terrorizing the state.
“The Zamfara State Government has no intention of interfering with bread production or sales, a staple food item for many households.
We are committed to supporting local businesses and ensuring access to essential food items for all citizens,” the statement emphasized.Idris further explained that the government’s strategy involves disrupting the supply of bread and fuel to unstable areas, as these are essential items used by bandits to carry out criminal activities.
This measure is part of a broader strategy aimed at restoring peace and security to affected areas and safeguarding the lives and properties of the people.
The government assured residents and business owners that rumors causing confusion and concern are unfounded.
It reiterated its commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Zamfara State.
