The Paris Olympics Afrobasket qualifiers will not feature the Nigerian Men’s National Basketball Team, D’Tigers, who have pulled out of the competition because of financial constraints.
This was revealed through a post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday.
The Afro basket qualifiers are set to start on Friday, February 22, 2024, in Tunisia.
The post said, “Despite several 2020 Olympians pledging, D’Tigers will miss this AfroBasket Qualifiers window because of lack of funds from government.”
It should be remembered that in May 2022, the Federal Government declared the withdrawal of Nigeria from all international basketball competitions for a period of two years, due to the crisis that hampered the growth of basketball in the country in the form of the leadership crisis at the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
