The founder of the Ondo Progressives, Mr. Adegboyega Amoboye, has stated that there will be no available slot in the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary taking place in April.
He announced that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will receive an automatic ticket to run for the November election. Amoboye, a member of the Yoruba Education Trust Fund (YETFUND), emphasized in a press release that this has been the tradition and urged the remaining aspirants not to waste their resources, but to wait for their turn.
He emphasized the importance of everyone working together with Governor Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami, to continue the initiatives commenced by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Amoboye lauded Aiyedatiwa for exhibiting a peaceful and progressive demeanor by selecting his deputy from Owo to appease the people of Ondo North and by mobilizing contractors to resume development projects initiated by Akeredolu.
He expressed confidence that the governor’s exemplary work and conduct have endeared him to the people of Ondo and make him a strong contender in any election.
Amoboye appealed to the national chairman and leadership of the APC to remain resolute in their pursuit of peace, progress, and stability by ensuring an automatic ticket for the incumbent governor.
He stressed that the focus of APC leaders should be on the upcoming State elections, in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.
Amoboye asserted that an automatic ticket should be assured for Aiyedatiwa, as he is the individual whom fate has placed in power for success in the November elections.
With about 10 aspirants vying for the primaries in April ahead of the November Gubernatorial election and the swearing-in of the Governor-elect in February 2025, Mr. Amoboye highlighted the need for APC leaders in the state to remain united, focused, and undeterred by opposition challenges, with Aiyedatiwa as the favorable contender for the race.
