Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State clarified that his administration has no intentions to abolish the recently established Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa made this statement in Akure during a meeting with former members of the caretaker committees of the LGAs and LCDAs.
He assured that transition committees for the 18 Local Government Areas and 33 Local Council Development Areas will be constituted in preparation for the upcoming local government election in the State.
Emphasizing the importance of preserving Akeredolu’s legacy, he mentioned ongoing efforts to resolve the court case hindering the inauguration of the former appointees, expressing optimism that once withdrawn, corrections to the appointees’ list will be made, and transition committees will be inaugurated.
Aiyedatiwa urged the former appointees to demonstrate more commitment to the party within their respective local government areas.
“It is important for us to come together as one big family for the progress of the APC and the development of our State,” he said, stressing that there is no division in the party’s leadership.
The State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, echoed the governor’s call for unity within the party, expressing appreciation for the Governor’s engagement with party members.
Hon. Olaniyi Gbenga and Mrs. Funke Kumuyi, speaking on behalf of others, conveyed gratitude to the Governor for the interface and affirmed their loyalty and support for his administration.
