The German Government has expressed deep concern about the security situation in Nigeria, which is characterized by multiple crimes, banditry, and kidnappings across the country.
German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annette Gunther, highlighted the significance of addressing security challenges for socio-economic development and peace during her visit to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio in Abuja.

She emphasized Germany’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in overcoming its security and power challenges. In response, the Senate called for collaborative efforts between the German Government and Nigeria to enhance the country’s socio-political development, particularly in the areas of security and power generation.
Senator Akpabio stressed the importance of partnership with Germany to address security issues and create more employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the recent decision of Germany to deport illegal Nigerians back to the country and its potential security implications, urging cooperation to ensure effective immigration policies and prevent potential security threats.
