Bandits abducted a director from the Federal Housing Authority, identified as Aondo Ver, during a raid near a military installation in Pambara, Bwari Area Council of Abuja, on Thursday.
The attack, occurring around 12:30 am, saw the bandits firing shots indiscriminately, creating panic in the vicinity before fleeing with the victim through nearby bushes.
Residents, speaking to our correspondent, confirmed that the area targeted by the bandits, Pambara Extension, is home to military personnel, both active-duty and retired, as well as civilians. Notably, a military base, commonly referred to as ‘camp,’ lies approximately 200 meters from where the abduction took place.

One source reported, “The attack occurred close to the ‘camp,’ the military base at the entrance of Bwari, near Pambara Extension. Despite the proximity to the military installation, the bandits managed to escape with the victim.”
Another resident expressed shock at the audacity of the attack, given the close proximity of the estate to the military base, where both serving and retired military personnel reside.
The incident adds to the growing insecurity concerns in the FCT, prompting apprehension among residents and authorities alike.
Efforts to reach the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, and the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
